Every day, we make lifestyle choices that move us towards wellness - or illness.  Eating healthy food, being active, and taking time for ourselves and family, help move us towards a life of wellness.  On the contrary, inadequate nutrition, being sedentary and ignoring signs of stress, move us closer to illness.

The top three causes of death in the United States are all lifestyle based – heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.  Genetics may play a part, but a small part.  What are more often passed down through families are lifestyles – eating habits, exercise habits, and how stress is dealt (or not dealt) with.  We can learn to make positive lifestyle choices and reduce our health risks!

In addition, positive lifestyle choices help prevent a reoccurrence of subluxations.  Many people think that an adjustment is the magic pill.  They use chiropractic for a band aid or expensive “aspirin”.  What they don’t realize is that, while an adjustment is vital to eliminating the subluxation and improving nerve flow to all parts of the body so that the body can function optimally (think of it as re-setting the circuit), it’s what the patient does with the remaining 167 ˝ hours of their week that determines if, or how often, a subluxation comes back.  This means LIFESTYLE CHOICES!!  Again, this is really important - the adjustment is absolutely essential to remove subluxations to improve nerve flow to all parts of the body so that the body has the ability to function at 100%.  But lifestyle, or how a person treats their body on a daily basis, directly influences how well their body performs, how well they can “hold” an adjustment, and how well (or ill) they become.

The Creating Wellness Assessment

So, how do you know if your daily health choices are moving you towards wellness or illness? Do you know what areas need improvement? What habits that you currently have are leading you in the right direction? The answer is with a Creating Wellness Assessment (CWAS) which provides you with this information.  There is now a way to quantify how well a person is in all dimensions.

Human beings experience stress in 3 dimensions:

Physical - How you use your body

positive:  regular exercise or proper digestion

negative:  sleep deprivation or high blood pressure

Bio-Chemical - What you put into your body

positive:  balanced meals or proper hydration

negative:  excessive alcohol or exposure to toxins

Psychological – The mind-body connection

positive:  taking steps towards your goals or doing something good for yourself

negative:  financial troubles or arguments with spouse

The Creating Wellness Assessment consists of a comprehensive lifestyle questionnaire combined with technological measurements that evaluate you in each of these 3 dimensions. The results provide you with your “Wellness Quotient” or WQ. Your WQ will provide you with detailed information regarding your current lifestyle choices and how those choices impact your level of wellness every day!

Everyone is familiar with an IQ (intelligence quotient) which is a number on a scale of 1 to 200 that stays relatively the same throughout your life.  The Wellness Quotient (WQ) is also on a scale of 1 to 200 but with one big difference.  Your WQ is dynamic – it can be changed, and is in fact changing all the time by the lifestyle choices we make each day.  On one end of the continuum (1) is illness or even death – on the other end (200) is wellness.  Since this number is dynamic if you are not actively moving towards the wellness end, then you are heading towards illness.  A WQ of 100 is average.  With this score your real age matches your biological age – your body is aging as expected for your years.  In other words if you are 40 years old your biological age is 40.  If your WQ is lower than 100 that means that your body is aging faster than your years.  You may be 40 years old but biologically your body may be more like a 50 year old or older.  Consequently, if your WQ is over 100 then you are slowing down the aging process.  You’re 40 years old, but biologically more like a 25 year old.  By the way, the average American has a WQ of 79, which is terrible, but if you look at the lifestyle of the average American it’s not surprising (poor nutrition with fast food, overstressed and no exercise.)

Once you have your assessment, get your score, and see where you are then what?? You know where you stand in each of the dimensions, you know what areas you’re doing well in and where you need improvements - you want to well and may even have goals to get you there – HOW do you do it?  WHERE do you start?  HOW do you keep motivated?  HOW do you track your progress?  You can go it alone or…………
